Justin Bieber's Christmas album will feature Mariah Carey and the greatest holiday song ever recorded

Like Nat King Cole, Elvis Presley, and Jewel before him, Justin Bieber is putting out a Christmas album this holiday season. It’s called Under the Mistletoe, and while that title suggests that it should be a bunch of gingerbread-fueled Yuletide slow jams, it almost certainly won’t be that.

Still, it should be a little livelier than your usual rocking around the tree. The 15 tracks on Mistletoe are both originals and traditional tunes, and there are a bunch of drop-ins from big stars, including Usher, Boyz II Men, and Busta Rhymes (who we hope will battle rap Shawty Mane on a track called “Drummer Boy”).

But the biggest headline is the presence of Mariah Carey, who will perform a duet with Bieber on “All I Want For Christmas Is You.” The tune, which appeared on Carey’s own 1994 Christmas album Merry Christmas, is one of her biggest hits (it made Merry Christmas the third best-selling Christmas album of all time) and also happens to be the best holiday song ever written.

Need proof? Just listen to this thing.

It has everything: A great hook, an incredible vocal performance by Carey, a festive vibe, and that great video where she frolics in the snow. It’s indestructible, and it should make you want to trim a tree or roast chestnuts or whatever you do to celebrate the season.

Will Bieber be able to improve on the perfection of “All I Want For Christmas Is You”? And are we wrong in thinking Carey’s track is the best ever? If it isn’t, what’s your vote for the greatest? Leave your holly-wrapped ideas in the comments below.

Its no shock Mariah is on there, yeah the multi-platinum “All I Want for Christmas Is You” was released on Columbia/Sony, but she is on Def jam now, just like Bieber, and she has released dance remixes of “All I Want..” for the past two holiday seasons on iTunes, so its really only shocking she is further trying to pilfer this modern day holiday staple even more. Nice to see, that he is bringing Boyz II Men back to the forefront of modern pop music. Have met them numerous times over the years, and they are true class acts, that Bieber only wishes he could emulate. The Band Perry duet, along with Usher thrown in proves he’s trying to be everything to everyone this Xmas. I love Colbie Caillat’s “Mistletoe” so I am interested to hear if this is a cover or some other new holiday tune.

I’m more interested in Michael Buble’s cover of “All I Want For Christmas Is You.” I think Justin Beiber and Mariah Carey are a weird pairing anyway; I can’t imagine their voices going that well together.

      Go Mimi!! Go AIWFCIY!! tee-hee!!

I just got really excited for Christmas, but not for the Biebs….for Love Actually season!!!

It is not a club banger? Its more of a radio play it safe Mariah. I love her dunrig her Fantasy days, but now it seems her music sounds the same. I do not think she can be in the rock and roll of fame. Even with number one hits. In the US Billboard but not around the world. And that also based on radio plays.

I vote ‘Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas by Judy Garland’ as the best Christmas song ever :)

So, fatal, are you going to buy the Deluxe Edition?

    • ERIC

Screw your hateful ass. Her success is proof in itself. Your uneducated views of real music are way too present. Go roll another blunt, put on your Rick Ross cd and get the hell off Mariah’s back. Thanks hun! Smooches! :)

    • Lisa

      You sound dumb

    • Maria

Obviously NOT a Mariah fan…but you do need to have respect for the fact that she does have one of the most amazing voices ever!!!!

    • Lamb4lifedaniel

Lmfao! What a fatal prick right? !(:
Ur comment made me laugh !
Obviously ur intelligence is tested here ! Mariah is the #1 selling female recording artist, grammy award winning, named r&b queen, has a 5 octave range voice, once was in the guiness book of world records for the best voice in music, def jam recording artist, known for the biggest comeback in music history, successful perfume and clothing and jewlery designer, model, beautiful mother/wife, biggest diva, married to a man that is nearly half her age, and happy as they come. Need I say more?
Know tell me… What relevancy do u have on this earth ?
      LAMB 4 LIFE !

Suck a fat one if you don’t like it don’t listen

  • Clete

Just Curious. How old is the writer of this article? There have been a lot of classic Christmas songs. I doubt that many would consider Mariah Carey’s the best.

    • Phil

Mariah’s 1994 release is a bonafide modern day holiday staple/classic. Its played on virtually every mainstream top 40 station through the holiday season even when most modern contemporary Xmas songs that have come out every year have not. It will be interesting to see if pop stations play Buble this season after he had a pop hit with “Haven’t Met You Yet”.

    • True Blue

I don’t see how age has anything to do with thinking that this is the best holiday song ever written. Mariah appeals to all ages, and so does the song. Many consider it to be at least one of the best holiday songs ever made, so Kyle’s opinion isn’t a far-fetched one.

    • Mikey

Are you serious? All I Want For Christmas is by far the best modern holiday classic ever written in the past 50 years. Fact!

  • NonEntity

As the great Norm McDonald once said, “Happy Birthday Jesus, here’s some crap!” The spirit of Christmas will surely perish when you stuff your tween’s stocking with the musical equivalent of a steaming pile of decomposing bananas.

    • Phil

You strike me as an aetheist.

      • NonEntity

You strike me as one who enjoys an extra “e” in the word atheist.

      • Phil

Its to emphasize your evil attitude. Or could just be a typo. or Both.

Does anyone rellay care what Gary Family Man’ Barlow rellay cares? Go eat another hamburger Gary and keep your moralising opinions to yourself. Either that or suggest that parents act like parents and let them decide what is appropriate viewing for their offspring.- John, Bristol, 20/8/2011 13:07>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>I’m not a parent. I’m an adult who would like to watch a talent (ahem) show on a Saturday evening but have no wish to be nauseated by the sight of gyrating prostitutes on my TV screen. Gary Barlow is absolutely correct and I applaud his public statement of his intention to clean up the show even though he is bound to attract jibes from viewers who are willing to tolerate soft-porn being broadcast on national TV in the mid evening. And if you think such viewing is appropriate, why don’t you go to the kind of cinema which specialises in it? You could wear a grubby mac for the occasion.

  • Andrew

Love the song and interested to hear how Mariah and Bieber mesh. Too many haters on these boards.

    • Sinead

I think the duet will be good. It’s a great song and the 2 of them singing it will be a great mix and it’s different. Mariah and Justin both have such talent and putting that in one song I think is going to be epic.. Best if luck with the album I say :)

    • Sinead

      Too many haters is right

  • LOL

America loves crap. And so does Kyle Anderson, judging by the ‘article.”
