Are Chris Brown and Rihanna together, or aren’t they?
Andy Cohen, host of Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live, finally got an official answer to that question when he interviewed Rihanna today on Facebook through the site’s Facebook Live! streaming series.
Cohen was playing his signature word association game, “Spill the Tea,” with Ri Ri, calling out pop stars and asking her for the first word that comes to mind. After name-checking Kanye West (“genius”), Jay-Z (“even more genius”), Beyoncé (“gorgeous — a stab to my self-esteem”), Nicki Minaj (“ass”), and Eminem (“he’s the s—t”), Cohen brought up Chris Brown. “He’s pretty dope, too,” Rihanna said, laughing. “He’s kinda alright.” But when Cohen asked if the two were seeing each other, Rihanna said no, although she kept smiling.
It’s a fair question: Brown appears on Rihanna’s new album, Unapologetic, which is due out November 19. And when Cohen asked the Barbadian pop star about the song she’s most excited for everyone to hear, her fans shouted out the title of her duet with Brown, “Nobodies [sic] Business.”
“They seem to be really excited about number ten,” said Rihanna. But when Cohen pressed her about the song’s meaning, quoting Brown’s lyrics (“I wanna make you mine and it ain’t nobody’s business”) and asking if the message is “as obvious as it appears,” Rihanna gave a vague answer.
“Nobody’s business is basically the way I look at everything regarding my personal life,” she said. “Even though you have to witness it, and it’s being documented at every second.”
Asked about the album title, which seems to imply that she’s not sorry for reuniting with the man who beat her up, she demurred. “There’s only one truth and you can’t apologize for it,” she said. “And that’s why I called it that.”
Hmmm. Guess we’ll have to wait to hear the album for more details.
