Wishing you knew what’s on Kanye’s mind? You’re in luck!
During his one-hour performance at last night’s Adult Swim upfront presentation in New York’s Roseland Ballroom, the man who’ll be the musical guest on this weekend’s Saturday Night Live finale tore into a winding rant that included such gems as “I ain’t doing no mother—-ing SNL skits” and “I drop your baby and you sue me and sh–.”
The meat of his monologue, which Complex managed to grab videos of, had to do with West’s relationship with fame and the press. “I ain’t no motherf—-g celebrity,” he said in a plea to get the paparazzi off his back. “I ain’t running for office.”
Read on below for a fuller account of his rant (hat tip to Complex), as well as a grainy YouTube clip of the affair.
“[I had a friend ask me, 'Are you gonna go on] SNL and you’re going to do like a skit about the paparazzi and shit and like humanize yourself?’ I ain’t here to apologize to no mother—-ers, man. It ain’t about me humanizing myself. At what point did I become unhuman where I had to turn myself back? Or maybe I was demonized. Or maybe I was treated inhumane and not human in that kind of situation.”
“I ain’t no mother—ing celebrity. I ain’t running for office. I ain’t kissing nobody’s mother—-ing babies. I drop your baby and you sue me and sh–. I’m trying to make some music that inspires people to be the best they can be. I don’t want nobody to ask nothing else of me. Don’t ask nothing else of me. Mother—-ers chasing you down, ’bout to make you crash and sh–, and all they want is one n—a to laugh and sh–. Hell nah, I ain’t doing no mother—-ing SNL skits; this my goddamn life. This ain’t no mother—-ing joke. That’s it. Stop that sh– right there.”
“One thing about me. I’m the worst kinda, worst kinda, worst kinda celebrity… because all I do is make real music. All I do is sit in the studio and make real, real shit. and that’s it. That’s mother—-ing it. That’s mother—-ing it. So I don’t want nobody trying to run up on me with no cameras, trying to sell pictures and shit to magazines, asking me no dumbass questions. throwing me off of my focus and s—. Harassing you all mother—ing day. I ain’t no mother—-ing celebrity…”
