(Spoilers if you haven’t watched episodes 5 and 6 of the show’s new season, albeit not very important spoilers.)
Yes, we mean Joe Caputo’s band: Sideboob. The prison employee’s surprise passion for — what do we call it? — big house rock was one of the great moments of character shading that came early in the Netflix prison dramedy’s second season. But another reveal might be even better: You can actually listen to some of his band’s music online, and even buy their album.
Sideboob’s Bandcamp page also delivers a bit of colorful back-story, including a description of the band’s influences — “a variety of sources ranging from classic rock to arena rock” — and the story behind its name — “that time Gabe wore a tank top to the neighborhood pool and his wife wouldn’t stop commenting on how much Sideboob he was showing.”
Keen viewers will pay special attention to Sideboob’s latest single, “Workers in the Mine,” which — as Caputo corrected Healy in episode 5 — is not about the plight of the working poor, but a metaphor for Al’s vasectomy reversal. (The lyrics are pretty vivid on that count.)
