After Enrique Iglesias begged off becoming an homme fatale — and denying us the much-coveted “Hold It Against Me”/“Tonight” mash-up — Britney Spears was left without an opening act for her huge upcoming tour.

After a few weeks of speculation and a lot of false starts, Spears finally confirmed this morning that chart-topping rapper Nicki Minaj will indeed join her on the road for the Femme Fatale tour. READ FULL STORY

Britney Spears' 'Till The World Ends' and Adele's 'Rolling in the Deep': Hear the mash-up here

Britney Spears gets around. This morning, she showed up on a remix of Rihanna’s “S&M,” and now she’s mashing it up with Adele.

“Rolling Till The World Ends,” a track constructed by cross-fading maestro Spears’ “Till The World Ends” to Adele‘s vocals from “Rolling in the Deep.” It’s a sharp little mindbender that you can listen to after the jump.

Rihanna teams up with Britney Spears for 'S&M' remix: Hear it here

Rihanna’s “S&M” is by far one of the most suggestive pop singles of 2011, so how do you make it even more naughty? Add Britney Spears.

The pair teamed up for a remix of the track that dropped earlier this morning on New York City radio station Z100. “In order to do a remix, it had to be major,” Rihanna explained to morning show host Elvis Duran during an interview just after the song’s premiere. “I asked my fans last week who they really wanted me to collaborate with, and Britney was one of the most popular names. Britney doesn’t do features, and it was really amazing that she wanted to be a part of this song.” Check out the track after the jump.

Britney Spears: Remember when she danced like this?

“I genuinely love what I do,” Britney Spears told MTV last Sunday in a pre-taped special for new album, Femme Fatale.

But lately, it hasn’t been entirely easy to feel that love in Spears’ low-impact live performances (see: Good Morning America) and videos (“Til the World Ends”). Maybe that’s why we found it surprisingly fun, and even a little poignant, to uncover this YouTube flashback (below) of Britney at her turn-of-the-millennium prime: READ FULL STORY

Britney Spears opens on top of Billboard 200 albums chart

The numbers for Britney Spears’ new album, Femme Fatale, are in.

Her seventh set debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart with 276,000 copies sold. Though it opens at the top spot, that’s a pretty underwhelming tally, considering it’s her second-lowest opening. Only her first record, 1999′s Baby One More Time, sold less, with 121,000 units.

Hip-hop talent Wiz Khalifa’s Atlantic Records debut, Rolling Papers, begins its stay on the chart at No. 2. 197,000 copies of his “Black and Yellow”-featuring set were purchased. While Adele’s 21 holds at No. 3: this g0-around she sold 94,000 albums. Check out the full top 10 after the jump.

Britney Spears premieres 'Till the World Ends' video: Watch it here

Till-the-World-Ends

The latest video from Britney Spears, for pulsing single “Till the World Ends,” has hit the web, and it’s pretty much just what you’d expect if you’ve listened to the lyrics (or, you know, read the title of the song): a bunch of people dancing, umm, until the world ends. Or, actually, while the world ends?

The clip opens with a date flashing across the screen: December 21, 2012. Sound familiar? It’s the date that has been bandied around forever as the one which some sort of transformative, apocalypitic event will occur and basically blow the world to smithereens. (Remember the Roland Emmerich disaster flick?)

But in Britney world, while December 21, 2012, might be the day the world is ending, it’s also the day that she sends it out with an underground dance party. Need access? Just find the nearest manhole in the street and slither down to the rave she’s cooking in the sewers. Because, children, she’s going to be dancing “Till the World Ends” for a long time.

Before we go any further, take a gander at the video here:

Britney Spears' 'Till the World Ends' video teaser: Look, I can bounce-dance!

Recently, it seems like a musical treat from Ms. Britney Spears has been dropping nearly every day: snippet after snippet, single after single, a video, the full album! Today (err, yesterday, really) it was a 30-second teaser for Spears’ next video for club banger “Till the World Ends.” (The full video will hit VEVO tomorrow, and don’t worry—we’ll be all over it here at The Music Mix.)

The clip we’ve been treated to is basically the “oh-oh-oh-oh-oh” chorus part of the jam, and the main feature — when it comes to Britney’s ever-delightful moves — is bouncing! Because, why wouldn’t you bounce to such a chorus? It just feels natural. Also, the vid features a post-apocalyptic vibe that finds people going underground…to go bounce-dance with her. Naturally! As of right now, there seems to be no product placement, except, of course, Spears’ standard wigs and weaves (if those count). Enjoy here:

Britney Spears in 'serious talks' with possible opening act Nicki Minaj: Who should she pick?

Now that the smoke has cleared from Enrique Iglesias and Britney Spears’ botched attempt at a joint tour, Spears is rumored to have her eyes on several new prospects.

TMZ has quoted an unnamed source as saying the she’s in “serious talks” with rapstress Nicki Minaj. Lil Wayne’s Young Money teammate would be a great fit for Britney’s tour: She’s hot, pop, and insanely energetic. And the tour Nicki’s currently on, Wayne’s I Am Still Music jaunt, will be over in time to make Britney’s June 17 start.

In addition, MTV is reporting that Jersey Shore cast member DJ Pauly D might be spinning at the top of Spears’ show (he and Spears share a manager). The Jonas Brothers’ Joe Jonas is also in contention for the opening slot, they say—less odd than you might think, since he’s set to release a dance-oriented pop album.

So who do you think Britney should pick: The rapper, the rocker and hopeful dance star, or the Shore-thing DJ? Take our poll after the jump and weigh in.

Enrique Iglesias says he's 'sorry for the confusion' about him touring with Britney Spears

After killing the dreams of fans hoping to get a two-for-one bang for their pop-loving bucks through his reps, Enrique Iglesias took to his WhoSay page to apologize to those who thought they’d see him and fellow star Britney Spears on tour together this summer.

“Hey guys, sorry for the confusion regarding a possible tour in the summer with Britney Spears,” he wrote. “We are on the Euphoria Tour and will continue to do so including some soon-to-be-announced dates in US. So hope to see all of you soon.”

Guess we’ll have to wait for Iglesias and Spears to hit a town near us separately. What do you think? Let us know.

Carson Daly on Britney Spears' strict interview conditions: 'It's insane'

You can try Till the World Ends, but you won’t be getting a live, unedited interview with Britney Spears—even if you’ve known her for approximately half her life.

Carson Daly, who first met the now-29-year-old Spears nearly a decade and a half ago during their mutual pre-TRL days, ripped into her management team on his personal Twitter after being asked to pre-tape an interview with her (standard practice right now for the star, who has primarily been conducting interviews via email), and then submit it for approval and editing before air.

In a series of frustrated tweets he wrote:

“I was jst TOLD my @britneyspears interview tomm on @ampradio MUST b pre-recorded & submitted 4 approval by HER mgmt b4 it can air! F THAT!”

never that restricted. Even when I interviewed Michael Jackson, it wasn’t anything like this…it’s really insane.

And to a fellow tweeter who called him an “unprofessional a–hole,” he replied: READ FULL STORY
