Jennifer Lopez drops 'Booty' remix featuring Iggy Azalea

JLO-IGGY

In today’s pop-music-and-butts news, Jennifer Lopez released a remix of “Booty” featuring Iggy Azalea, who claims “the last time the world seen a booty this good it was on Jenny from the block.” (Nicki Minaj might disagree.)

The original “Booty,” off J. Lo’s latest album A.K.A., features Pitbull alluding to Bubba Sparxxx’s “Ms. New Booty” and commenting on Lopez’s butt-related skills: “The way she twerk it, not fair.” Azalea prefers to talk about her own skills in her verse on the remix, though, rapping, “They beggin’ me to drop down but right now Iggy on top.” Can’t argue with that—three songs featuring Azalea are currently in the top 10 of Billboard’s Hot 100.

Pitbull's pants steal the spotlight from Jennifer Lopez during the World Cup opening ceremony -- VIDEO

It wasn’t the song, or the Brazilian culture-themed choreography, or even another revealing green getup worn by Jennifer Lopez that stole the show during Thursday’s World Cup opening ceremony. No, everyone was talking about Pitbull’s pants.

Maybe it’s because the sound quality inside the Corinthians Arena in Sao Paulo was so terrible — why bother paying attention to the performance when you can’t tell what Pitbull, J. Lo, and Brazilian star Claudia Leitte are actually singing? (For the record, the trio performed the World Cup’s official song, “We Are One (Ole Ola),” but that was only decipherable when the crowd joined in the “Ole Ola” chorus.) READ FULL STORY

Jennifer Lopez will perform at the World Cup opening ceremony after all

Get out the caxirolas — Jennifer Lopez is performing at the 2014 World Cup opening ceremonies in Brazil.

Reps for the singer say reports that she would be unable to attend the soccer extravaganza due to “production issues” were “premature” — even though Lopez’s camp confirmed that she was bowing out on Monday.

But scratch that: A rep for Lopez told People Tuesday, “Jennifer has always wanted to participate in the World Cup opening ceremonies. We have been trying to work out scheduling and logistics. Any statements to the contrary were premature. Jennifer would not want to disappoint her fans or fans of futbol. She will be there.”

And late Tuesday, Lopez told The Associated Press that she was leaving for Brazil that evening. “We always were going,” she said. “I think people get anxious, especially with me and my schedule when I’m like, ‘Ah, OK, I can leave this day, that day, I don’t know if we can make it. …But we are definitely going.”

Jennifer Lopez skipping World Cup opening ceremony

This week marks the beginning of the 2014 World Cup, perhaps the biggest non-Olympics sporting event in the world. A total of 32 nations will send their best soccer stars to Brazil to compete for the top prize in futbol.

But the star providing its theme song will no longer be attending. READ FULL STORY

The Michael Jackson hologram appeared at the Billboard Awards, and it was weird

For a guy who passed away nearly five years ago, Michael Jackson sure seems busy lately. His second posthumous album, Xscape, just hit stores (and is refreshingly not embarrassing), and Sunday night he appeared — via the miracle of modern hologram technology — on the Billboard Music Awards to perform “Slave to the Rhythm.”

J.Lo's 'I Luh Ya Papi' turns the tables on rap videos: Watch it here

JLO-VIDEO.jpg

Sick of all the under-dressed ladies that rappers like to have decorating their sets like sexy lawn ornaments? So is Jennifer Lopez.

That’s why she decided to put men in tiny bikini bottoms, slather them in oil and perch them around the pool. No, I’m not (just) describing her home life: It’s J. Lo’s new music video!

On American Idol Thursday night, Lopez unveiled her video for “I Luh Ya Papi” — a clip that turns the tables on rap video stereotypes. And it’s pretty glorious. At one point she’s on a yacht, pouring champagne in some guy’s Speedo. This isn’t exactly moving us past the sexual objectification of music videos, but it sure is fun to watch:

Jennifer Lopez sings in human-rights-violating Turkmenistan

Jennifer Lopez sang “Happy Birthday” to the leader of Turkmenistan during a show, but her representative said she wouldn’t have performed there at all if she had known there were human rights issues in the country.

The singer and actress performed in the former Soviet bloc country on Saturday night. A statement released Sunday by her publicist to The Associated Press said the event was hosted by the China National Petroleum Corp. and wasn’t a political event.

However, the country’s leader, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow, did attend. Berdimuhamedow has been criticized for oppressive rule by human rights organizations. Human Rights Watch describes Turkmenistan as “among the most repressive in the world.”

After a United Nations visit last month, Assistant Secretary-General for Human Rights Ivan Simonovic said the country had made progress in the area of human rights, but “a lot more work is needed to complete this process and to ensure practice is in line with international standards.”

Jennifer Lopez gets rhinestone-y, parties with wolves for 'Goin' In' video: Watch here

Perhaps Jennifer Lopez shouldn’t have been so hasty about walking away from American Idol, as it seems like her lip-bedazzling budget has now gone up approximately 3,000 percent. What is it about women named Jennifer and the urge to attach sparkly things to unusual parts of their bodies?

Other things present in the ultra-colorful video for her “Goin’ In” include a topless Flo Rida, a paint-filled hand grenade, and Lopez giving a little shimmy when she recites the song’s instant-classic lyric about “going orangutan” (yes, bananas).
