Justin Bieber and Mariah Carey's 'All I Want For Christmas Is You' video has arrived -- VIDEO

Get ready for the cheeriest Macy’s commercial you’re going to see this season.

Justin Bieber has released the video for “All I Want For Christmas Is You,” his duet with Mariah Carey off his Christmas album Under the Mistletoe. And I’ll leave you all to debate the relative vocal merits of his take versus Carey’s iconic original– don’t forget the awesome Love Actually version! — but I can’t get past the clip.

Here are my five takeaways after watching it (Spoiler alert: I want to go to Macy’s):

1. Mariah Carey’s sexy santa outfit: Seriously, that woman hasn’t aged a day since 1994.

2. The intro begins with quick shots between Mimi’s thighs and Bieber’s eyes, making me all kinds of uncomfortable.

3. At the moment (1:15) when Santa hands out tickets to meet Justin, I hope you all notice the tickets say ‘Midnight at MACY’S.’ They might as well have annotated all of the Bieber paraphernalia you can buy at MACY’S! MACY’S: Making your holiday dreams come true!

4.I’m a sucker for a puppy. Sorry Justin, that dog with a bow in the sleigh is the cutest thing about this. I want him for Christmas, please.

5. The product placement. Oh, the product placement! This thing makes a Kardashian wedding look homegrown. In addition to the Macy’s tickets, we’ve got multiple Nitendo3DSs, shoes, and jewelry.  My favorite moment may be when they stop showing individual products and just let Bieber flat-out boogie in the middle of a full display.

Justin Bieber's Christmas album will feature Mariah Carey and the greatest holiday song ever recorded

Like Nat King Cole, Elvis Presley, and Jewel before him, Justin Bieber is putting out a Christmas album this holiday season. It’s called Under the Mistletoe, and while that title suggests that it should be a bunch of gingerbread-fueled Yuletide slow jams, it almost certainly won’t be that.

Still, it should be a little livelier than your usual rocking around the tree. The 15 tracks on Mistletoe are both originals and traditional tunes, and there are a bunch of drop-ins from big stars, including Usher, Boyz II Men, and Busta Rhymes (who we hope will battle rap Shawty Mane on a track called “Drummer Boy”).

But the biggest headline is the presence of Mariah Carey, who will perform a duet with Bieber on “All I Want For Christmas Is You.” The tune, which appeared on Carey’s own 1994 Christmas album Merry Christmas, is one of her biggest hits (it made Merry Christmas the third best-selling Christmas album of all time) and also happens to be the best holiday song ever written.

Need proof? Just listen to this thing. READ FULL STORY »

Mariah Carey sings five octaves in just over a minute: Listen here!

It’s no secret that Mariah Carey has range, but that’s just become even more apparent: A clever video has surfaced on YouTube that splices together Mimi singing through what the video claims are five octaves, two notes, and two semitones.

“That’s over 65 keys!!!!” the video says at the end. You knew she could do it, but actually hearing her go from low to high in a cascade — with each note flashing on the screen as it happens, each about one second apart — is pretty stunning.

Through the video, you can identify a variety of Mariah’s songs in the background — everything from her soaring rendition of “O Holy Night” to “Forever” — although a huge portion of it is pulled from her two notable Christmas albums. (Go figure.)

If you don’t already appreciate the range Mariah has, you will after the jump:

Mariah Carey on the Home Shopping Network: Two hours distilled into four golden minutes -- watch the video here

It’s been a little heavy around here the past few days. But luckily, there is a lamb-sprinkled rainbow cutting through the darkness, and her name is Mariah Carey.

Carey is not just a singing superstar. She is a retail wonder—one capable of putting clothes on your back, baubles on your ears, and “a cocktail of explosive fruity sensations” in the air around you.

With so many things to sell (jewelry, fragrances, purses, shoes and the like), it’s no wonder Mimi took up a two hour block on HSN this past Sunday night. In her first major appearance since the birth of her twins, Carey was in rare form, complaining about her pregnancy, directing traffic with special guest (and husband) Nick Cannon, ordering around the HSN models, and generally acting like Mariah Carey.

And while the entire broadcast was more or less wall-to-wall magic, the good people at Jezebel have condensed Carey’s appearance on HSN into a four-minute blast of free-association highlights. Follow the jump to bask in the awesomeness of Mimi unleashed:

Mariah Carey just delivered perhaps the biggest release of her life—her two children with husband Nick Cannon (whose names, Moroccan and Monroe, might not be as ridiculous as once thought).

But that won’t be her only big life event in 2011: Cannon revealed today that Carey was working on an album during the pregnancy and plans on dropping it this year.

“She’s been working away, and we have a studio in the crib, and the pregnancy has totally inspired her on so many different levels,” Cannon told the New York Daily News. “You’re definitely gonna see some new phenomenal music from Mariah.” Does that mean we can expect a lot of lyrics about having to pee a lot?

Pregnant Mariah Carey gets naked, bares her baby bump: 'My ultimate goal was to share this incredibly personal moment with my true fans.'

Just last week, the very pregnant pop diva Mariah Carey gave us a glimpse of her butterfly-covered baby bump via Twitter, and now she’s gone even further: In a (possibly bizarre?) twist on that famous Demi Moore Vanity Fair cover, Mariah Carey has bared it all in the final few days of her pregnancy for the cover of Life & Style magazine, which you can glimpse right here. One word: wowza.

Carey says she went nude for fans.”I was feeling very vulnerable about taking pictures at all right now, but then I didn’t want to miss this opportunity to document this once-in-a-lifetime experience,” Mariah told the magazine. “My ultimate goal was to share this incredibly personal moment with my true fans.”

The “We Belong Together” singer’s due date is in a few weeks, but contractions sent her to the hospital on March 27. “Now I have so much respect for mothers everywhere, especially those who’ve had difficult pregnancies or given birth to multiples,” said Carey, who’s having twinsa boy and a girl. “We need to have Mother’s Day once a week!”

How do you feel about Mariah’s baby bump-baring nudity? Startled? Loving it? Freaked out by it? Are you ready for her twins?

50 Cent donates Gaddafi performance fee to Unicef

50 Cent, who performed a private concert for Mutassim Gaddafi — son of the Libyan dictator — in 2005, has announced that he will donate the fee he received for the gig to Unicef. “In light of the ongoing events in Libya,” a representative for the rapper said in a statement, “50 Cent will be making a donation to Unicef, which is providing vital relief supplies to meet the needs of women and children at risk during this crisis.” The performer joins a list of musicians including Beyoncé, Mariah Carey, Usher, and Nelly Furtado, all of whom performed at private events linked to the Gaddafi family and, in the wake of the violence in Libya, have subsequently announced donations to charity.

Beyoncé reveals that she donated Gaddafi performance fee, while Mariah Carey issues statement: 'I feel horrible and embarrassed'

GaddafiImage Credit: Chris Pizzello/Burhan Ozbilici/Evan Agostini/AP ImagesAs the situation in Libya worsens, the music world’s eyes have been trained on stars including Mariah Carey, Beyoncé, Usher, and 50 Cent—all of whom have performed at opulent soirees thrown by Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi or members of his family.

Rolling Stone reported earlier this week that these artists have been facing calls to give away the money they earned from their performances. Yesterday, Beyoncé’s publicist released a statement saying that the singer had done just that: “All monies paid to Beyoncé for her performance at a private party at Nikki Beach St. Barts on New Year’s Eve 2009, including the commissions paid to her booking agency, were donated to the earthquake relief efforts for Haiti, over a year ago. Once it became known that the third party promoter was linked to the Qaddafi family, the decision was made to put that payment to a good cause,” the statement reads.

Mariah Carey, meanwhile—who received $1 million after performing for Gaddafi’s son Muatassim in 2008—has issued her own statement on the matter: “I was naïve and unaware of who I was booked to perform for. I feel horrible and embarrassed to have participated in this mess. Going forward, this is a lesson for all artists to learn from. We need to be more aware and take more responsibility regardless of who books our shows. Ultimately we as artists are to be held accountable.”

What do you think, readers—do you respect these artists for their admissions after the fact, or believe they shouldn’t have agreed to the performances in the first place?

UPDATE: Carey’s rep reports: “Mariah Carey has written a new song, “Save the Day,” and the proceeds from that song will go to human rights organizations.”

Mariah Carey's 'Merry Christmas' special last night: Three highlights worth watching

mariah-carey-xmasImage Credit: Danny Feld/ABCYou know who’s super-fun around Christmastime? The grand dame of “All I Want for Christmas is You,” Mariah Carey, duh! Last night, the very pregnant pop diva premiered her ABC holiday special, Mariah Carey: Merry Christmas To You, and it did not disappoint in the anti-Scrooge category. It very successfully put me in the holiday spirit! The highlights were many—you can watch the full 45-minute special after the jump—but here’s a guide to the three most important moments from the Carey Christmasfest, including corresponding time codes:

00:00: The diva’s special-opening rendition of sleigh-bell and school yard-chant happy new single “Oh, Santa!” was the perfect kick-off for the evening. This thumpy, joyful tune proves: Mariah just wants to have fun!

35:00: The launch of Mariah Carey’s duet of “O Come All Ye Faithful” with her opera-singer mother Patricia Carey. It becomes a diva-off, with both reaching the rafters for the highest note in history. Who wins? You can be the judge of that.

39:45: Mariah closes out the night with her Christmas standard, “All I Want for Christmas Is You.” If that doesn’t put you in the spirit, then nothing will. There’s simply few things out there that are this joyful.

Now watch the whole special here (or just skip to my suggested highlight portions):
