Mariah Carey's new single 'Almost Home': Hear it here

Mariah Carey’s new single “Almost Home,” from the soundtrack to the forthcoming film Oz The Great and Powerful, was supposed to arrive tomorrow for our listening pleasure. But seeing as nothing is secret for long in the digital realm, it arrived a day early.

The Stargate-produced track not only helps Carey launch the movie, but also gets her on the trail to the release of her upcoming new album.

Last year’s single “Triumphant (Get ‘Em)” was a bit of a letdown, so does “Almost Home” get us back into a Mariah kind of groove? Judge for yourself below:

Jimmy Fallon, Mariah Carey, The Roots, a bunch of awesome little kids sing 'All I Want for Christmas Is You' -- VIDEO

Give those Pandora and Spotify holiday playlists a break and turn to Jimmy Fallon, Mariah Carey, and The Roots for your morning cup of (non-alcoholic! or not) cheer.

With classroom musical instruments and holiday sweaters in tow, a glamorously gown-clad Carey (you didn’t think she’d seriously wear a sweater, did you?) joined the gang for a playful rendition of “All I Want for Christmas Is You” yesterday on Late Night.

Sure, the performance doesn’t hold a candle to this summer’s “Call Me Maybe” singalong, but the adorable children singing background and Carey’s breathy high notes make the video irresistible. I don’t know about you, but I’m taking a chug of eggnog anytime Carey sings that song on national television. Mariah early Christmas, everyone!

Nicki Minaj to Barbara Walters: 'Am I not good enough for you to get my side, because I'm a little black girl that raps?'

nicki-minaj

Nicki Minaj’s  E! special My Truth is certainly presenting one version of events. That’s the funny thing about truth, though: everyone’s is different.

In the second of her three-night special last night (which you can watch in full), Minaj gave her story about what is going on between herself, Mariah Carey and Barbara Walters. It all started a few months ago, when Carey told Walters that Minaj had threatened her. At the time, Carey, via Walters, said that she heard Minaj say, “If I had a gun, I would shoot the b***h,” referring to Carey. Walters then repeated on The View.

But in the new special, Minaj said that after Carey leveled the gun charge, Walters simply reported it and didn’t ask Minaj’s team for comment. “Am I not good enough for you [Walters] to get my side, because I’m a little black girl that raps?” she said, talking to her entourage. “Because if I was J. Lo, you would’ve called J. Lo’s camp. But are we not good enough for you Barbara?…I’m only good enough for you to tell people I’m ‘unpredictable,’ when you don’t f—–g know me?” READ FULL STORY

Mariah Carey's 'Triumphant' video takes her to the boxing ring -- VIDEO

Mariah-Carey_240x320.jpg

Mimi may be emancipated, but she’s on the ropes — into the boxing ring, specifically — in the just released a new video for her current single “Triumphant (Get ‘Em),” which also features rappers Rick Ross and Meek Mill.

As with anything from Carey’s universe, there’s a distinct level of Mimi fabulosity to the clip. Dressed to the nines in a couple of chic, midriff-baring dresses — girl looks good! — Carey is a part of rapper Meek Mill’s entourage (he plays the boxer at the center of the action). Rick Ross is also a sundry member of the boxer’s crew. Do you get it? The winner of the match will be triumphant!

The best part is when Carey plays the role of a “boxing ring girl” (yes, this is a technical term — I looked it up) and holds up various cards announcing rounds. The oddest part is that, while Carey is clearly the star of the show, she relinquishes lots of precious screen time over to Meek Mill and Rick Ross for their rapping interludes. Carey would be nothing more than a pretty-girl afterthought if it weren’t for those card-carrying moments and the cuts to her in front of a — you guessed it — glittery screen (inventive!). But, in the end, it’s all very fitting for the song’s vibe.

On the Charts: Taylor Swift's big sales, Flo Rida's 'Whistle' blows up, The Lumineers say 'Hey'

Taylor Swift’s new single “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” may just sell the most downloads ever! ever! ever! in its first week.

Released on Monday night, the song is reportedly heading to first-week downloads in the 600,000 range, which would make the breakup anthem the fastest selling song ever by a female artist. (Lady Gaga currently holds that record with “Born This Way,” which was downloaded 448,000 times in its first frame.)

There’s one song Taylor probably will probably not outsell, though: “Right Round” by Flo Rida feat. Ke$ha, which sold 636,000 songs in a single week in 2009. Still, if she climbs past Justin Bieber’s “Boyfriend,” which moved 521,000 editions in its first week, she’ll have the second-best sales week in digital history. Not too shabby.

We’ll see how high “Never,” which hit No. 72 on this week’s Hot 100, soars next week, but for now, let’s check out the week’s other chart winners and losers: READ FULL STORY

Mariah Carey is 'Triumphant' in her return: Hear a snippet of the new single

Mariah-Carey_240x320.jpg

So, things had been pretty quiet in Mariah-land recently, with the R&B diva understandably devoting much of her attention to the endless responsibilities thrust upon her as a new mother toridiculously good-looking twins.

But a quiet spring and summer look to be making way for a fall and winter filled with Mimi. On the heels of signing a whopping $18 million deal to join the judges’ panel of American Idol (more toys for #DemBabies–rejoice, everyone!), Carey has announced the release of her first new single in more than two years, “Triumphant (Get ‘Em).”

The track, which will serve as the lead single for her upcoming 14th studio album, is scheduled to hit the radio sometime today and will premiere on her website at  3:45 pm (ET). Tweeted Mariah about the Rick Ross and Meek Mill assisted tune, “I wrote TRIUMPHANT when I was going through a difficult time & it helped me get through it.  When u hear it, pay attention 2 the lyrics #WIN.”

Well, then–perk those ears up, people, as you listen to a 30 second preview of the song below. Any super-skilled listeners out there hear a grunt from you-know-who at the end?!

Mariah Carey returns to the stage for the first time since the birth of #DemBabies: See the video here

Throughout her career, Mariah Carey has rarely done anything that could be described as “understated” (you need look no further than her legendary episode of MTV Cribs for proof).

But for her grand return to the stage last night– her first performance since giving birth to twins — Carey kept it small.

Her performance was part of a series called “Plot Your Escape: Four Concerts. Countless Celebrities,” at New York’s tiny Gotham Hall. The evening simulcasted four shows from four different cities: Carey and Diddy in New York, Lil Wayne and Cee Lo in Los Angeles (is that why Weezy bagged on Jimmy Kimmel Live?), Sara Bareilles and Maroon 5 in Chicago, and Mary J. Blige and Gavin DeGraw in New Orleans.

A be-gowned Carey kept the whole thing pretty loose, even joking with the audience that she wasn’t entirely prepared for the evening. (Such was the case when she ran into a bit of trouble on her 1996 hit “Always Be My Baby,” when she seemed to have forgotten where she was supposed to come in). Check it out below. READ FULL STORY

British Navy lipsync Mariah Carey's 'All I Want For Christmas Is You': I'm On a Boat edition!

Here at EW, we love a good Christmas lip dub. And this heartwarming frolic on the high seas is no exception.

According to the video description, the crew of the HMS Ocean found out they would all get to be going home for the holidays after 214 days at sea, and they just had to celebrate–sometimes shirtless.

It turns out that Christmas joy means the same thing on a boat as it does everywhere else: Breaking out Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You” and dancing your Santa-loving heart out.

Watch the crew’s explosion of Christmas cheer, including elaborate impromptu costumes (made only with things they had aboard — crafty!), high kicks and more below: READ FULL STORY

Justin Bieber and Mariah Carey's 'All I Want For Christmas Is You' video has arrived -- VIDEO

Get ready for the cheeriest Macy’s commercial you’re going to see this season.

Justin Bieber has released the video for “All I Want For Christmas Is You,” his duet with Mariah Carey off his Christmas album Under the Mistletoe. And I’ll leave you all to debate the relative vocal merits of his take versus Carey’s iconic original– don’t forget the awesome Love Actually version! — but I can’t get past the clip.

Here are my five takeaways after watching it (Spoiler alert: I want to go to Macy’s):

1. Mariah Carey’s sexy santa outfit: Seriously, that woman hasn’t aged a day since 1994.

2. The intro begins with quick shots between Mimi’s thighs and Bieber’s eyes, making me all kinds of uncomfortable.

3. At the moment (1:15) when Santa hands out tickets to meet Justin, I hope you all notice the tickets say ‘Midnight at MACY’S.’ They might as well have annotated all of the Bieber paraphernalia you can buy at MACY’S! MACY’S: Making your holiday dreams come true!

4.I’m a sucker for a puppy. Sorry Justin, that dog with a bow in the sleigh is the cutest thing about this. I want him for Christmas, please.

5. The product placement. Oh, the product placement! This thing makes a Kardashian wedding look homegrown. In addition to the Macy’s tickets, we’ve got multiple Nitendo3DSs, shoes, and jewelry.  My favorite moment may be when they stop showing individual products and just let Bieber flat-out boogie in the middle of a full display.

Justin Bieber's Christmas album will feature Mariah Carey and the greatest holiday song ever recorded

Like Nat King Cole, Elvis Presley, and Jewel before him, Justin Bieber is putting out a Christmas album this holiday season. It’s called Under the Mistletoe, and while that title suggests that it should be a bunch of gingerbread-fueled Yuletide slow jams, it almost certainly won’t be that.

Still, it should be a little livelier than your usual rocking around the tree. The 15 tracks on Mistletoe are both originals and traditional tunes, and there are a bunch of drop-ins from big stars, including Usher, Boyz II Men, and Busta Rhymes (who we hope will battle rap Shawty Mane on a track called “Drummer Boy”).

But the biggest headline is the presence of Mariah Carey, who will perform a duet with Bieber on “All I Want For Christmas Is You.” The tune, which appeared on Carey’s own 1994 Christmas album Merry Christmas, is one of her biggest hits (it made Merry Christmas the third best-selling Christmas album of all time) and also happens to be the best holiday song ever written.

Need proof? Just listen to this thing. READ FULL STORY
