Lorde answered some questions about the 'Mockingjay' soundtrack on Twitter

In case you hadn’t heard, Lorde curated the soundtrack for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay—Part 1, which is this small indie film about a girl who plays with her food and has birds for pets. And because Lorde has started releasing a few of the songs from the upcoming film, she decided it was time for a Twitter Q&A with her fans.

Here’s what we learned:

Ariana Grande somehow sneaks a club jam onto the 'Mockingjay' soundtrack

First, Lorde releases a cover of Bright Eyes’ “Ladder Song,” and now, on a very different note, Ariana Grande has added a dance track to the Hunger Games: Mockingjay—Part 1 soundtrack.

The song, titled “All My Love” pairs Grande with Major Lazer for an upbeat song that doesn’t quite fit with the tempo of the rest of what’s been released from the Mockingjay soundtrack. Unless Katniss finds herself in a dance club at any point, there’s a good chance this song could be more of a credits-sequence deal. Then again, who said District 13 doesn’t know how to party? Oh, that’s right—everyone.

Lorde covers Bright Eyes in new, very emotional 'Mockingjay' song

In a new song from The Hunger Games: Mockingjay—Part 1 soundtrack, Lorde covers Bright Eyes’ “Ladder Song.” The slow jam sets a fairly melancholy mood with talk of traitors and people who used to be “friends of mine.”

With that in mind, the song could very easily lend itself to a Katniss-Peeta moment, among other options. Regardless, based on the song’s tempo, the odds are definitely in favor of the moment being an emotional one. (Read: Expect tears.)

Lorde to curate 'Mockingjay Part 1' soundtrack

Lorde’s Pure Heroine has plenty of songs about teenagers, one song about class stratification, and another about gladiatorial combat, so it makes perfect sense that she’d be chosen to put together the music for a Hunger Games movie. The franchise’s next installment, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1, will feature a soundtrack curated by the 17-year-old Kiwi pop phenomenon. The details of what she’s choosing have yet to be made public, but it’s been confirmed that she’ll provide the album’s lead single, and it’s hard to imagine that she’s going to pass up the perfect opportunity to place “Glory and Gore.”

“Curating the soundtrack for such a hotly-anticipated film was a challenge, but I jumped at the chance,” Lorde says in a statement.  “The cast and story are an inspiration for all musicians participating and, as someone with cinematic leanings, being privy to a different creative process has been a unique experience. I think the soundtrack is definitely going to surprise people.”

Mockingjay arrives in theaters Nov. 21. The soundtrack, which will be released by Republic Records, doesn’t have a date yet.
