Adele named Entertainer of the Year by Associated Press

Though Adele didn’t have a new album or a worldwide tour in 2012, she’s still rolling. After a year of Grammy glory and James Bond soundtracking, Adele has been voted the Associated Press Entertainer of the Year.

In 132 ballots submitted by members and subscribers of the AP, Adele easily outpaced other vote-getters like Taylor Swift, Fifty Shades of Grey author E L  James, the South Korean viral video star PSY and the cast of Twilight. Editors and broadcasters were asked to cast their ballot for the person who had the most influence on entertainment and culture in 2012.

Adele’s year began in triumph at the Grammys, took a turn through recording the theme to the 007 film Skyfall, and ended with the birth of her son in October. The ubiquitous Adele was that rare thing in pop culture: an unqualified sensation, a megastar in a universe of niche hits. READ FULL STORY

Adele recorded vocals for 'Skyfall' in 10 minutes, says producer

So, how long did you wait in line for coffee at Starbucks this morning? Probably just long enough for Adele to record a Golden Globe-winning song or two.

In an interview with Hollywood.com, trusty Adele producer and collaborator Paul Epworth spilled the beans on the creative process behind the singer’s James Bond theme “Skyfall,” which not only snagged a Golden Globe nod yesterday, but also made the Oscar “short list” for Original Song contenders. Adele tapped for official 'Skyfall' theme song

It had been long-rumored, but now it looks official: Adele will aid James Bond by recording Skyfall‘s official theme song.

The song will be called, yes, “Skyfall,” and some or all of it has likely already been recorded: Adele’s been seen chilling at an MGM recording studio, which only fueled all the early speculation. In recording a James Bond musical entry, she’ll be joining a club that includes Paul McCartney, Alicia Keys and Jack White, Carly Simon, Garbage, and others.

Plus, those keeping score at home are no doubt aware that this will be her first new song since her record-crushing 2010 album 21, let alone her pregnancy announcement.

The Sam Mendes-directed Skyfall opens Oct. 26 abroad and Nov. 9 in the States.
